Rev. David Myhren

Pastor Myhren was born into a loving Christian home in New York, where his family and church taught him about Jesus from a young age. Dave was blessed to attend college at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA (BS-History, 2014), where he met Christians from many different backgrounds and was challenged to think through his faith on his own.

After graduating, Dave decided to work as a carpenter for several years in northern New Jersey, just outside of New York City. While working as a carpenter, Dave joined the United Reformed Church (URCNA) and was blessed to serve as a deacon, volunteer chaplain in the hospital, and also helped start a chapter of the Calvinist Cadet Corps (a Christian version of Boy Scouts) at his church. The more Dave served in church, the more he wanted to serve God’s people, and his Pastor and elders encouraged him to consider going to seminary.

After struggling to discern God’s calling for several years, Dave attended Mid-America Reformed Seminary (MARS) in Dyer, IN, just outside Chicago (MDiv, 2023). Aside from the privilege of learning in the classroom from the professors, Dave was mentored by the pastor of the church he attended in Illinois and had many opportunities to travel and fill pulpits. He was also privileged to serve as a pastoral intern at Christ Reformed Church (URCNA) in Nampa, Idaho, Hudson Valley United Reformed Church in New Hampton, New York, and Covenant Presbyterian Church (OPC) in Vandalia, Ohio which was the start of his relationship with the congregation.

Dave’s great desire in ministry is to see Christ glorified, God’s people grow in their love for Christ, and new people introduced to Jesus for the first time. To that end, Covenant has ordained Dave to serve as a Pastor-Evangelist tasked with planting Bread of Life Church (OPC) in Troy, Ohio.
