Pastor Patton has served as the Pastor of Covenant since November, 2015.
My thirst to know and proclaim the Scriptures derives from my thirst to know Jesus Christ. I came to know Christ through a campus ministry in Pennsylvania called DiscipleMakers and spent three years on staff with them.
During this time, my passion for the Old Testament was kindled by a small group Bible study in the book of Jeremiah. In this challenging book I began to see how the Old Testament is a rich and profound witness to Jesus Christ, and thus began a lifelong quest to understand the Old Testament as Christian Scripture. I am fascinated by the grand narrative of the Bible as it moves from creation to sin to redemption and on to consummation.
This fascination with the Bible led me to pursue training at Westminster Theological Seminary (Glenside, PA), where I earned my MDiv in 2009. I then went to Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL) for a PhD in Biblical Theology and Old Testament, which I earned in 2014. At Wheaton I had the wonderful privilege of studying under Daniel I. Block.
Before coming to Covenant, I taught at Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL) and Mid-America Reformed Seminary (Dyer, IN). I also completed pastoral internships at New Life OPC (Williamsport, PA) and Bethel OPC (Wheaton, IL). I count it a great joy to be able to minister to such a loving congregation here in Ohio.
My wife Trina and I have seven dear children. As a family we love playing wiffle ball and swimming, caring for our farm, and reading out loud together.
